The Trinity Choir

Requiem & Remembrance

The Trinity Choir
Jane Glover, Special Guest Conductor

The composers featured in this program put their hearts into these emotional works—solemn explorations of humanity’s response to loss, death and remembrance.  Renaissance, baroque, and contemporary compositions include: Schutz’s Musikalische Exequien; the Requiem Masses of Richafort and Howells; and Josquin des Prez’s Deploration sur la mort de Johannes Ockeghem.

This season’s concerts range from the solemn to the exuberant including Handel’s beloved Messiah, unique choral music from Estonia, Bach’s glorious Johannes-Passion, surprising new compositions from the Choir’s own artists, and a special competition for a new commission.  The Choir will be joined by the Trinity Baroque Orchestra and feature a superb line up of guest conductors, renowned for their early music repertoires, including Jane Glover, Stefan Parkman, Andrew Parrott and Steven Fox. In addition, Steven Fox has been named acting music director of the Trinity Choir for the 2009-2010 season, a role which will include conducting and preparing the choir for concerts and weekly worship services.

Each concert, intimately presented in the Gothic magnificence of Trinity Church, will feature the purest of voices in changing arrangements from full choir to small ensembles and solo performances.
