The Book of Beasts

Marginalia final

The medieval bestiary was a collection of descriptions and stories about animals, ranging from the mundane to the fantastic, which described moral and theological lessons to be learned from the natural world. Marginalia will explore music connected with several favorite creatures, introduced by narration translated from medieval sources.

Marginalia is an ensemble of early music specialists dedicated to the performance of the rich, varied, and often virtuosic repertoire of medieval instrumental and vocal music. The ensemble uses medieval bagpipe, vile, hurdy gurdy, medieval harp, percussion, and other instruments to recreate the music of medieval minstrels as it could have sounded. https://www.facebook.com/medievalbagpipe/
