Suren Barry ~ harpsichord

This program features selected movements from three virtuoso works for solo instruments. J.S. Bach’s suites for violoncello and harpsichord are well-known to devotees of the composer. Johann Georg Pisendel was the foremost violinist of his age in Germany. His compositions incorporate the prevalent Italian and French styles into fiendishly difficult music for the violin. The Sonata in A minor served as a model for Bach’s unaccompanied works for the instrument.
