Fin'amor: The Myth of Courtly Love.
In the Middle Ages, Courtly Love was many things; a poetic ideal, a civilizing influence, a spiritual discipline; a wealth of lyrics and romances produced and read by men and women sharing an elaborate feudal ritual. But how did it manifest in daily life, where love and marriage seldom converged? HESPERUS explores the many aspects of Fin’amor.
Innovative, historically-informed and multi-cultural, HESPERUS connects the rich musical past and curious 21st century concertgoers, not only with single-genre early music programs and early music scores for silent films, but through collaborations with theatre, mime and dance; multi-century musical portraits of a single culture; and Crossover fusions of early music and American traditional styles.
