Cynthia Roberts and Yi-heng Yang perform a selection of pieces composed by Mozart and Schubert for violin and fortepiano.  

Cynthia Roberts is one of America’s leading baroque violinists, appearing as soloist, concertmaster, and recitalist throughout the US, Europe, and Asia. She is a faculty member of the Juilliard School and also teaches at the University of North Texas and the Oberlin Baroque Performance Institute. She has given master classes at the University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna, Indiana University, Eastman, the Cleveland Institute, Cornell, Rutgers, Minsk Conservatory, Leopold-Mozart-Zentrum Augsburg, Shanghai Conservatory, Vietnam National Academy of Music, and for the Jeune Orchestre Atlantique in France. She appears regularly as concertmaster for the Clarion Orchestra, Musica Angelica and performs with the Trinity Baroque Orchestra, Smithsonian Chamber Players, Tafelmusik, and the Boston Early Music Festival. In Europe, she has performed as concertmaster of Les Arts Florissants and appeared with Orchester Wiener Akademie, the London Classical Players, and the Taverner Players. She performed the complete Bach Sonatas for violin and harpsichord at the Mostly Mozart Festival. Her recording credits include Sony, Analekta, and Deutsche Harmonia Mundi.

Pianist Yi-heng Yang has been noted by The New York Times for “astonishing skill and vividness,” and maintains a diverse range of musical activities, ranging from performances on historical period pianos to premieres of works by living composers. Yi-heng regularly collaborates with period and modern performers and offers a historically informed, vibrant musical style.  Ms. Yang was winner of The Juilliard School’s Mozart Piano Concerto Competition and the Haddonfield Symphony Concerto Competition. She has been a soloist with The New Juilliard Ensemble, the York Symphony Orchestra of Toronto, and The Juilliard Orchestra, performing in such venues as Lincoln Center Avery Fisher and Alice Tully Halls.Yi-heng is an active chamber musician and has appeared at music festivals including Yellow Barn, The Taos School of Music, The Banff Centre, The Apple Hill Chamber Music Festival, Summergarden at the MoMA, and the Focus! Festival for Contemporary Music. She is a regular faculty member at the Apple Hill Center for Chamber Music and performs frequently with members of the Netherlands Kamerorkest, Northern Sinfonia (UK), and the Radio Kamer Filharmonie (Netherlands).

Midtown Concerts sponsors lunchtime performances of music of the 18th century and earlier. Ensembles are chosen by a panel of early music specialists from the metropolitan area.
