GEMS has established good working relationships with reporters for local New York City outlets and the national music press, webmasters who maintain sites with musical event listings, and free-lance feature writers. Any individual, ensemble, presenter, or institution offering an early music event in NYC can order an email press release sent to our list of over 300 media contacts (local outlets like TimeOut New York plus national musical publications like Early Music America Magazine). The list is regularly updated and personalized as we earn the respect and appreciation of a growing number of individual reporters, editors, and critics.

We write the release based on information you send us. Our releases are short, to-the-point, and transmitted via text-only email, the preferred medium. Graphics or photographs are available through links included in the text if you provide them. All releases go out with a short personalized note from us thanking the contact for his/her attention. We might give your event our own recommendation if we consider it of unusual interest or exceptional quality.

Please note that the release generally publishes 30-45 days in advance of your event. For outlets requiring longer lead time (e.g. American Recordermagazine), you should send your listing information directly to them.

We can advise you on preparing a publicity campaign and materials.

We recommend that media releases should go out at least one month prior to your event.

1. Email us with the basic information about your event. Please include:

♦ Title of event, plus any additional "tag line" or rubric
