Walton Waites webCléa Galhano ~ recorder
Joseph Jones ~ dulcian
Donald Livingston ~ harpsichord

Early 17th Century Sonatas (literally "the sounding of instruments") were integral to the flowering of the Baroque aesthetic. A new instrumental style emerged called stylus fantasticus, featuring spirited rhetorical dialogues of tempos, affects, timbres, and textures; wild contrasts of audio juxtaposed. The program invites you into the middle of this verdant dreamlike garden of sounds.

The Walton Waites follow in the tradition of town waites of centuries past. Virtuoso wind players and soloists in their own right, they band together for celebration of creative expression, as watchful guards of grand architectures in sound from the early Baroque and late Renaissance.
